Make swatching your paints a whole lot more fun with these paint tube templates! When I showed off my paint tube swatches of the Holbein granulating watercolors, I received several questions about whether I drew the paint tubes, or used a stamp, or printed them. It sparked an idea because I want others to be able to have fun swatches, too!

✅ What’s included in the paint tube templates product?
This product is available in my shop as a digital download. What’s included is 12 pages of templates. Each page is sized so that you can transfer onto watercolor paper that is sized at 4″x6″, 5″x7″, or 8″x10″. The number of tubes per page varies depending on the transfer paper size. Smaller papers will have either 5, 6, 10, or 12 tubes. The 8″x10″ transfer paper will have 24, 36, or 48 tubes. That’s a lot of tubes!

🎨 How to use the paint tube templates?
These paint tube templates are sized to be printed on regular US Letter sized paper.
- Open the file in Adobe Acrobat. When printing, make sure to print the “actual size”, not the “fit size”.
- Transfer the template onto your watercolor paper by using a lightpad, or taping it on a sunny window and sketching.
- Cut your watercolor paper into either 4”x6”, 5”x7”, or 8”x10”
- Each page has a rectangle around the template so that you can properly place your watercolor paper on top.
- Sketch with your pencil first, then outline with a waterproof pen.
- Or draw directly with your waterproof pen.
❓Will there be more varieties?
Short answer, yes! I love swatching my paints and finding unique ways to do so. Some ideas I have brewing are leaves, flowers, circles, rainbow, and more!
