How to Paint: Watercolor Eucalyptus Bouquet

Let’s paint a unique floral arrangement: a watercolor eucalyptus bouquet! Eucalyptus is one of the most recognizable greenery – you can include it in a floral bouquet, hang it in your bathroom, or just use it as home decor. When I thought about painting some kind of brown bag bouquet, I thought.. why not do a spin on it and make it a eucalyptus bouquet? This way, you can use it as a greeting card or art print!

Supplies

LUKAS Watercolor Paints
Watercolor paper
Round brush size 6
Pencil & eraser
Paper towel or cotton rag
Jar(s) of water; spray bottle

Level of Difficulty: Beginner

Step 1: Sketch

Watercolor Eucalyptus Bouquet-Audrey Ra Design

Sketch the generic shape of the brown paper bag. Then use your round size 6 brush and the burnt umber color to draw the branches. You can paint as little or as many as you want.

Step 2: Leaves

With your round size 6 brush and a blue/green color, start painting the eucalyptus leaves. The leaves are rounded and to paint the ones that are in profile, paint a thinner oval. Skip branches that are right next to each other to avoid paint bleeding.

Fill in with more leaves once the first layers have dried.

Step 3: Brown Bag

I used the wet-on-wet method to paint the brown paper bag. Start with a lighter brown color. Feel free to drop in some yellow ochre or other earthy colors to create dimension in your bag.
